Bachelor of Science in Biology

Undergraduate Degrees Offered

The bachelor’s degree in biology provides students with the intellectual and technical skills to succeed in a multitude of careers (e.g., medicine, veterinary, forensics, genetics, laboratory sciences, natural resources management, conservation, animal biology, plant biology, etc.).Students gain an understanding of living organisms, of how organisms interact with the environment, and of the process of biological investigation. The curriculum provides students with a knowledge base in molecular, cellular, organismal, ecological, and evolutionary biology.

Biology, BS (General Biology Emphasis)

The General Biology Emphasis is a comprehensive degree that encompasses the both the Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis and the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior Emphasis. Students may also choose advanced courses in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology.
Degree Requirements for General Biology Emphasis

Biology, BS (Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis)

The Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis focuses on the study of life at the molecular level as well as: cellular morphology and function, genome organization, regulation of genetic expression and how these relate to biomedicine and disease. This emphasis area includes classes in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology.
Degree Requirements for Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis

Biology, BS (Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior Emphasis)

The Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior Emphasis focuses on the study of life thru understanding ecosystem dynamics, population genetics, conservation, animal behavior, and evolution. This emphasis area includes classes in Anthropology, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology.
Degree Requirements for Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior Emphasis

Biology, BS (Second Education Emphasis)

The Secondary Education Emphasis combines the General Biology Emphasis with innovative courses from the IDoTeach Program.
